Read:  Deuteronomy 21

“Thus you will banish the shedding of innocent blood from among you, by doing what Adonai sees as right.” (Deuteronomy 21:9 CJSB)

God’s children are to be very, very different from the rest of the world.  When Moses gives this command, he does so from the context of Israel finding a murdered corpse lying in a field without knowledge of the murderer.  Consider our society.  Day after day, we see violence and murder on our televisions and social media feeds.  Sadly, we also see such perpetuations of violence immediately before our eyes, but too often we just look away or to the present focus of our immediate dealings.  God’s children are to be very, very different from the rest of the world.  God has charged the Messianic community to be God’s image bearers.  The world is to see God in God’s children.  Jesus says, “I am the light of the world.” (John 8:12)  Still, Jesus also says, “You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:14)  God is in the Messianic community.  The Messianic community is in God.  Thus, God’s children are to be very, very different.  We must live never allowing life to be murdered, lying in a field, and simply overlooked.

Today's Meditation:  Bear life by protecting life.
