Read:  Deuteronomy 23

“For Adonai your God moves about in your camp to rescue you and to hand over your enemies to you.  Therefore your camp must be a holy place.  Adonai should not see anything indecent among you, or He will turn away from you.” (Deuteronomy 23:14 CJSB)

For forty years Israel wandered about the Sinai Peninsula coming into confrontation with this nation and that nation.  Now, waiting on the other side of the Jordan are the armies of Jericho armed and ready for war.  Keep these Mosaic military realities in mind, but also look to Paul’s words that say, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12 NASB) God, Who enjoys beating swords into plowshares, is not ultimately interested in armaments and the art of war.  We are not the offspring of Sun Tzu, but instead the children of Spirit and Truth.  Rescue is a result of submissively abiding in the nature and atmosphere of holiness.  Simple dedication to moral regulations is at best spiritual infancy and ignorance, and at worst egotistical religious pomp.  When we take up swords in our supposed gardens of prayer we will hear Jesus say, “That’s enough!  Put your swords away!”  There is nothing lewd among the Messianic community.  To remain in God, Who is victory, turn away from all indecency.

Today's Meditation:  True victory
